Let's Debate the debate

Tonight on all major local TV and radio channels, the Leaders Debate between party leaders of the 4 biggest political parties in the upcoming provincial election (on May 14) will take place.  Please watch it, between 6:30 - 8pm and be prepared to debate the debate in class on Wednesday, May 1st.  You can also follow news on the leaders debate on twitter at #bcdebate2013

For Monday, April 29, Socials 11 students must sign up and "follow" on Twitter or "like" on Facebook  (or bookmark and check daily a web page) of a political person or party of your choice, related to either  BC provincial politics, or Canada's federal system.  Remember to state who you chose to follow, their "handle" or webpage address, why you chose to follow them and the most interesting tweet you've read so far.

I'm enjoying following your journey through the Canadian political process . . . and I'm learning  LOTS about the impressive power of technology as an effective communication medium.  It's interesting to read your tweets and retweets.  It's even interesting to explore the psychology of 'marketing' and the role of the media in an election campaign.

Lastly, thank you for honouring yourself, each other and me by ensuring you run a positive promotion campaign:  only promote positive reasons to vote for you or your party.  Refrain from any negative campaigning by attacking an opponent or opposition party.  Thank you.
