Storyline

In 1979, the American embassy in Iran was invaded by Iranian revolutionaries and several Americans are taken hostage. However, six manage to escape to the official residence of the Canadian Ambassador and the CIA is eventually ordered to get them out of the country. With few options, exfiltration expert Tony Mendez devises a daring plan: to create a phony Canadian film project looking to shoot in Iran and smuggle the Americans out as its production crew. With the help of some trusted Hollywood contacts, Mendez creates the ruse and proceeds to Iran as its associate producer. **These sites originate out of England and profile that perspective in the war.  Although Canada certainly had its own perspective throughout the conflict, we can still imagine what Canadians engaged in battle would have experienced.

Please bring in a current event article for Tuesday, October 9th.  It can be from a newspaper or an on line source.  You do not need to do anything with the article in advance of Tuesday's class, just bring it in with you.

Political Editorial Cartoons

In your search for a political editorial cartoon which you feel profiles some aspect of Canadian Identity or some issue related to Canada's identity (eg. influence of the US on Canada, etc), it is important to be selective in your cartoon choice.  Google searching 'political cartoons' may seem like a good place to start, but it will give you hundreds and hundreds of possible sites to further explore.  Be specific in your search and discriminating in your selection.  Finding a good, appropriate political cartoon that insights a reaction from you will naturally lead to a thoughtful, detailed and relevant analysis.  Remember to follow all the analysis aspects and questions 1-8 on the reference handout provided in class.
And please, properly cite your source!  Check before printing it that you have the author's permission to  do so.
