Who do you think you are?

In Socials 11, we've been exploring the Canadian identity at the turn of the 20th Century.  A growing sense of multiculturalism as a key aspect of our identity was beginning to take shape, largely due in part to the waves of immigrants who arrived here to start a new life.  At some point, each one of us (either directly ourselves, or indirectly through our families) was an immigrant to Canada.  How much do you know about your family's immigrant experience here?  Where did they come from?  Why did they leave?  Why did they choose Canada?  What were some of the realities they faced when they got here? What aspects of their previous culture did they keep here in Canada?  Which part(s) did they abandon? In what ways did they adopt the "Canadian culture"?  In what ways did they contribute to this "Canadian Identity?"  These will be questions central to your inquiry based research project "My Global Heritage"due October 29th.  Enjoy this inquiry into your cultural heritage!
